Stars!

Over at the Stars and Stamps blog, this week's Midweek Throwdown challenge is STARS.  I've been trying my hand at the inlaid dye cuts technique after looking at a couple of great tutorials, one by Jennifer McGuire *here* and another by Betsy Veldman *here*.  It's a great way to add interest and some texture and dimension and still have a flat card.  And, it's another way to use scraps!  So here's my card for today (and scroll down to my last post you'll see another inlaid die cut card):

If you watch Jennifer's tutorial, you'll see that this technique actually allows you to make 2 cards with the positive and negative pieces you die cut.  Unfortunately, the post-it that I used to secure the star die to thestriped paper tore parts of the yellow strips on my other piece, and it couldn't pass muster for a card.

 Thanks for coming to visit!

Oh, and one more thing

  1. Love the rainbow--- so happy and cheerful! Love your nice, white sentiment- stands out beautifully against the blue paper! And isn't Jennifer M a great teacher-- I love watching her videos- even if I try only about 1/10 of what she creates!!

  2. I love both of your inlaid cards (yes, I went to your other post and absolutely loved the butterfly). I am going to have to try this technique sometimes.

  3. Rainbow, terrific idea. Rainbows always make people smile so I'm sure the lucky recipient will smile when they receive this card.
